The Church of Scotland Guild is a movement within the Church of Scotland which invites and encourages both women and men to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and enables them to express their faith in worship, prayer and action.

The Guild meets on alternate Mondays in the Church Hall at 7.30pm.  All are welcome to come along and join us.

This year the Guild will be supporting the following two projects:

World Mission Council -Journeying Together – Empowering teenage mothers in Zambia
In Kanyama, a high density area of Lusaka in Zambia, life can be difficult, particularly if you are a girl. These girls are very vulnerable. Many become pregnant at an early age and drop out of school, making employment hard to come by, continuing the vicious cycle of poverty.

Journeying Together seeks to change this. The project provides mentoring and support for young mothers as they learn about nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and parenting skills. The young mothers are encouraged and supported to complete their education , or take the option of vocational training, Journeying Together will help teenage mums in Kanyama to build a life of promise for themselves and their children.

The Boys’ Brigade – Faith in young people.
The Boys’ Brigade is a volunteer-led youth organisation, which provides youth work to the Christian church.

Today the Boys’ Brigade and the church face the same challenge of being more visible in our outreach and engagement with the wider community. The BB has a unique role to play as a mission partner for the church in Scotland. For many churches the BB provides a bridge into communities that they otherwise might find difficult to access, providing opportunities to engage young people and also their families.

The new partnership with the Guild focuses on growing the BB across Scotland. It is particularly fitting to launch this during 2018, Scotland’s Year of Young People.

Thank you to everyone who supported and helped with the Guild lunch on 18th November. The sum of £327 was raised for the above two Guild projects.
